An Edwardian mystery set in a peaceful village on Long Island's south shore. It's 1904, and when murder strikes a quiet Long Island village, newly arrived coroner's assistant Daniel O'Halleran is convinced it's connected to the two-year-old crime local librarian Kathleen Brissedon has asked him to look into, a crime he'd investigated while working as a NYC coroner's physician. His findings had been discarded at the time, but now Daniel believes they may hold the key to this recent murder. Can he unravel the puzzle before it's too late, or will murder shake the tranquil village once more?
When Colin Brissedon is suspected of murdering his new boss, his sister Kathleen enlists the help of Daniel O'Halleran, the local coroner's assistant, to find the real killer before her brother loses his life. But when the victim's true nature comes to light, the task becomes even more daunting as the possible suspects begin to multiply. Was there anyone in the village who did not have a reason to kill the man? Will Daniel find the culprit behind the gruesome murder, or will the guilty party escape to kill again?
Daniel and Kathleen are enjoying a pleasant day on the ice when a man is found in the nearby gazebo, his throat cut. But before the doctor can even put the clues together, another incident occurs, and to make matters worse, both the victims were known to be interested in Daniel's sister, Isabell. Could it be a simple coincidence, or is someone bent on removing any competition for Isabell's affection? Daniel must discover the answer before another tragedy occurs.
